I delayed my review until now to see how their work would hold up. So far so good. Mike had been around for quite a while, and his business is genuine. I can bet they don't have fake reviews here as so many others do. They repaired the corner of my house about 6 mos. ago replacing damaged wood. I dealt mostly with Buddy, he is experienced, knowledgeable, doesn't bloat up the project, yet insists that all that is necessary would be done, and makes sense at that. I liked their lead carpenter as well (forgot the name unfortunately). Likely would deal with them again. Oh yeah, and I thought the price was quite reasonable considering how expensive everything had become.

M & L Construction did a very large deck repair on a very steep slope for us. They were extremely efficient, capable, easy to deal with and very hard working. I don't know if anyone else would've undertaken this extensive repair job. I would highly recommend them to anyone. Five stars!

I worked with M&L for the past two years for projects on our residential property. They are great at communicating, and are reliable.

We needed to repair and replace dry rotted stairs and posts in our exterior stairway of a two-unit HOA. M&L sent a supervisor to examine the property, promptly answered questions and followed up with a detailed bid. Their estimate was higher than competitors, but they used more durable material and explained their logic. The professional carpenter finished the project two hours early. When we pointed out small gaps that hadn't been caulked or sealed, he immediately responded by going back to close the gaps, and did his own inspection to find others which were promptly sealed. Highly recommend these folks.

We hired M&L Construction for our house projects again because they are dependable and do great work. SF experienced lots of rain and strong gusty winds last winter and spring. This affected our house and we needed help to fix some things. I reached out to the company for assistance and got a response back quickly. Mark and Buddy came out to the house, shared their thoughts with us on the repairs and provided us a quote. They are knowledgeable in their field and I trust they can get the job done. We had a lattice replaced with a wall, a window replaced with a wall and fixed leaning fences. The workers are professionals and dedicated to delivering great results. We would definitely recommend M&L Construction to our friends. We are happy to have found them and will continue hire them for future house projects.

Hired these folks after dry rot was discovered underneath our front stairs. We got a referral from another contractor who didn't do this type of work anymore. That along with their great Yelp reviews lead us to reach out to get an estimate. Mark and Buddy came out to look at the scope of the work. They were professional and friendly. Within a week or so we had a reasonable estimate. At the time, they were scheduling out about 4-6 weeks but were able to squeeze me in about ten days later! On the day of the job, Moises was on time and did an excellent job. Buddy came out again to make sure the work was up to par. These folks are great and definitely recommend them.

Excellent service! Our condo building had egress stairs that had significant dry rot. We went through a lengthy bidding process and all of the other contractors indicated that a full replacement was required. The full replacement cost was well above our HOA budget. M&L rescued us! Competitive Pricing: Buddy at M&L assured us that the stairs could be repaired and prepared a detailed quote at a competitive price to cover the scope including the permit. Services: The repair was scheduled within a few weeks. The work team was very efficient, and worked diligently for several days. Permitting: M&L worked with the SF DBI to make sure the stairs met safety requirements and passed inspection. Overall, the work quality was great and saved our HOA a significant amount of money. Highly recommend!

We had a fantastic experience working with M&L Construction. We recently hired them to build a redwood fence and deck for our San Francisco backyard, and we couldn't be happier with the results. We previously had them build a front staircase for us, which also turned out great, so we knew we could trust them. Excellent communication: Mark and Buddy were really communicative via email or site visits throughout the entire planning process. They answered all of our questions and made sure we were happy with the design before they started building. High-quality work: The full deck and fence construction were completed in under two weeks, even with rainstorms, and the end results looked amazing. The foreman on the site was diligent, making sure everything was built to design and with great attention to detail. Thoughtful: They were proactive in identifying potential issues as they came up and offering solutions. And they were always respectful of our property, ensuring the gate was closed and cleaned up after themselves. Competitive pricing: We think the pricing was very competitive, given the quality of work they provide. We felt like we got an excellent value for our money. Overall, we highly recommend M&L Construction. They're reliable, efficient, and produce high-quality work.

amazing. our garage door frame had rotted, but i wasn't sure. They came over, identified it was in fact rotting, and quickly gave a quote. Called me a couple days later saying they had finished another job early and could come over to do ours. Love it!!! trying to squeeze me into their tight schedule and get the work done. can't recommend enough

M&L was one of three firms i contacted to look at addressing extensive rot on my deck. The responses were all over the place, with one charging a very low price ( but refused to do it with a permit) , and one charging well over $60,000 as the only recommended path was a brand new deck! Mark and Buddy came back with a reasonable price. They worked with us to see what was possible within our budget without cutting corners that would affect the safety of the deck. Eventually we went with them and it was a great experience. Their crew paid great attention to detail and the finished job (entirely structural ) was better than what the original contractor did. They also got the right permits and handled the visit from the inspector to address any concerns from the City. Though we had to increase our budget to address the changes requested by the inspector, it was money well spent Overall, we are definitely satisfied with their work and highly recommend them for deck work.

Buddy grew up with an extended family that included architects and general contractors, and had a knack for art and mechanicals. From that grew a love for all things construction.

After a career in the technology industry, he decided it was time to pursue his passion and dove headlong into building a wood working shop and learning how to build furniture, keepsake boxes, and pretty much anything else he could think of. Along the way, he personally restored his 1928 San Francisco home to bring it as close as possible to its original historical condition, a true labor of love.

But Buddy missed working with other people, and began looking for a job that combined the things that matter to him: construction, design, people interaction, and helping others through sharing knowledge. After an extensive search, he joined M&L Construction because he really liked the ideals and business approach of Mark & Lisa, and felt instantly at home in the family style atmosphere.
